Wollaton Hall

Built between 1580 and 1588 for Sir Francis Willoughby Wollaton Hall is a fine example of Elizabethan architecture and perhaps the oldest complete example of an Ancaster limestone building in existance.. Wollaton is situated on the outskirts of Nottingham. It is thought that profits from the local coal mining industry paid for it to be built.

Wollaton Hall is featured in one the blockbuster movies of 2011. Key outdoor scenes in the Batman film The Dark Knight Rises were filmed here and Wollaton is portayed as Wayne Manor.
